TALENT
Although Goodwin’s book initially seems to have been written for teens, the thought-provoking messages also hit home with adults. The journey a young girl takes after her older brother is killed while serving in Afghanistan engages her ability to identify right actions and initiates the courage to carry through.
I find myself admiring the main character’s social maturity and her emotional growth as she interacts with peers, her drama teacher and her parents. Goodwin demonstrates her knowledge of teens by creating a variety of believable characters. This book is a good read for both teens and adults.
