Internet fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
As a teenager Samantha Johnson wrote a song that went viral in all the wrong ways. A pop song about her love of mozzarella sticks. She hoped for adoration but instead became a joke for an entire generation. She absolutely does not want to be in the limelight ever again. Or even near it. Since then, she's kept mostly to herself. But then she gets set up with a guy who turns out to be a rock star, and she risks the spotlight falling on her once more.
Dimefront’s awkward drummer, Tanner Penton, never expected to live the rock star life. Even though he's living the dream, he's still fighting his past and the hurt caused by young love. He’d like to figure out how to actually speak to women without getting tongue tied. Unfortunately, his friends covertly fix him up with a woman he can't form a coherent syllable around. He gets flustered, his face heats, and... it's a whole thing.
Tanner must learn how to be authentically himself with Sam if he's going to make this last. And Sam must put the past behind her to figure out if she wants to embrace fame and the man she's falling for or walk away for good.

Outstanding Story & Narration🎧 A Heartfelt Delight!
Christina Hovland’s “Mile High” world is one of my favorite places to spend time in and with rockstar romance novels being one of my favorites I knew I was going to love this book and I sure did. Like her other books, the story captivated my attention from start to end, Hovland’s perfect balance of drama, humor, heartfelt emotions and romance entertains you the entire time. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about and root for too. Samantha Johnson became a youtube sensation but not in the way she hoped when she posted her first music video, an original song featuring her love of breaded mozzarella. Yes the video went viral but she ridiculed by many and it never went away, so she did and even as an adult she still hides from her past and what a better place to hide but with a generation who knows nothing about youtube, so he chose a career working with seniors, and her latest job is at the Purple Peony Assisted Living Facility. The ladies at the Purple Peony Assistant Living facility lead by one of my favorite characters, Babushka, get in to all kinds of trouble and are experts in shenanigans and matchmaking. Tanner Penton, Dimefront’s drummer, has difficulties talking to people, except for seniors, so he loves spending time with them at the Purple Peony and visits them whenever he can. When Babushka introducers him to Sam, he was tongue tied, he was not expecting her to be a her, or to feel so attracted to her. Their first meeting did not go so well, but he wanted to see her again and came up with a way to talk to her. Sam does not reveal her past or her hangups to anyone, and neither does he as they get to know each other it is evident that they have more in common than they know. I thought these two were great together and for each other, Sam is a runner and Tanner is hoping she doesn’t and when his past comes back in his life she may ruin it all for him. But his bandmates and friends have his back and jump in to help save the day and the one thing he wants, Sam. There is never a dull moment in this wonderfully written and plotted story, it is a feel good story that tugs on your heartstrings and has you smiling ear to ear. Christina Hovland, thank you for another fabulous story, the laughs and the emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, I listened to an ALC of the audiobook edition and Maxine Mitchell and Eric Michael Summerer did an amazing job bringing these characters and story to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that suited that character’s persona and were believable in every role they played. Summerer nailed it as Tanner, grasping every side of his personality and capturing his every emotion, and Mitchell did the same for Sam. Both were just as fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters as well, including Babushka, accent and all. They set the perfect tone for the story, handled the witty dialogue effortlessly and landed the humor naturally and with ease. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen.
Another great story
This was the next book in the Mile High Rocked series and it didn’t disappoint! Planes and rock stars make for great stories and these two make a great couple after they figure it out! But the journey is to be had and worth it! I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Love these 2 together!
Oh my gosh, I love this world. First book of 2023 and a perfect way to start the year off! Tanner, the drummer for Dimefront, meets Sam, who is in charge at the Purple Peony (Babushka’s home). There’s an instant connection, even if there’s some hesitation on Sam’s part. But once she gives in, it’s pretty amazing. I love this group of people. They’re such a close knit family, and give you lots of laughs & feels. Can’t wait for the next one!!!
