Using High-Altitude Ballooning in the Classroom

Teaching on the Edge is a resource for 5-8th grade students interested in
learning using high altitude ballooning. Used in conjunction with the
accompanying website, the book is loaded with basic information such as
history and the science behind high altitude balloons. Additionally, it
includes three lessons that teach basic strategies for understanding how
GPS works, the scientific methods behind ballooning, as well as how the
earth’s atmosphere is a system of interrelated parts.
This book was made possible by a National Science Foundation research
grant as well as a collaboration between Ball State University and Taylor
University.
