Tears of Vengeance

Bill Kelly grows up in a middle class American home outside Philadelphia. He graduates from college, and enters the Naval Reserve, and flight school during the height of the Vietnam Conflict. He volunteers for the most risky combat service, flying a helicopter gunship for the Marines, and ends up being shot down over enemy territory. He escapes, and nearly drowns trying to get back to the American position. While being flown out of a field hospital in a medical evacuation helicopter, the plane is shot down and Kelly suffers massive burns to his face. Unable to overcome severe depression over his injuries, and to make a positive adjustment to his new situation, he withdraws from everyone who cares for him, including his family and his college sweetheart. His depression overtakes him, turning him into a psychotic killer.
