Publisher Description
As census forms are being filled out in homes all across the city, a few things should start to become apparent. One is that too many people here are unemployed. Another is that of the people that have jobs, too few have jobs that pay the type of money required to properly raise a family. The biggest lesson the census will teach us is that far too few of us remain. Our youth abandon the city like rabbits fleeing the forest when the wildfires rage. Most leave not out of desire, but out of necessity. The lack of jobs, recreation and opportunity appears to them to be a lack of hope itself. Their inheritance spent, they pack up their dreams and say goodbye to their families before embarking for pastures they pray will be greener.
