Tembo Gets a Long Trunk

Long ago, elephants had short, flat noses - and young Tembo was curious about everything. But when he ignores a warning and pokes his nose into a snake's burrow, a frightening accident stretches it into something no elephant has ever seen: a long, flexible trunk.

At first, Tembo feels awkward and embarrassed by his unusual appearance. With patience, encouragement, and practice, however, he discovers that his difference can help him gather food, carry water, protect his friends, and assist the animals of Nuru Forest.
