“Cynthia Wright is a gem among writers!” ~ Literary Times

A marriage of convenience in the Gilded Age…

Newport heiress Catherine Beasley Parrish has been groomed all her life to marry an English duke. However, when she meets Adam Raveneau, the latest in a long line of Raveneau rakes and a newly created viscount, Cathy awakens to a destiny worth fighting for.

Although Raveneau insists that he is not marriage material, he is in desperate need of funds to restore Tempest Hall, his crumbling family estate on Barbados. And when Cathy begs him to save her from the toad-like duke her mother intends her to marry, Adam realizes that they may be able help each other.

Following a passionate honeymoon voyage on the high seas, Cathy and Adam arrive at their island home to find legends of pirate treasure and face the realities of their complicated marriage of convenience.

Can two people who wed for all the wrong reasons discover that a lasting love is the greatest treasure of all?

“In TEMPEST, Cynthia Wright is in top form, doing a masterful job of transporting the reader to a magical yet believable world. I loved the way the two main characters, Adam and Cathy – despite having joined forces for self-interested reasons - struggled to grow, with humor and honest exchanges. Brava!”~ Ciji Ware, New York Times Bestselling Author of A COTTAGE BY THE SEA

“TEMPEST is Cynthia Wright at her eloquent, intuitive best, and I savored every delightful page! I was swept away by sinfully sexy Adam Raveneau, wondering how he and Cathy could ever untangle their problems, and thrilled to find myself in the midst of adventures with pirates, buried treasure, and a romantic abduction. I believe Cynthia Wright will make a lifelong fan out of every person who reads TEMPEST.”~ Lauren Royal, Bestselling Author of AMETHYST

Lisa W (me) ,

A wonderful picture of the glittering times when the wealthy built “cottages” along the Atlantic coastline in CT, RI, and so forth. If you’ve ever done a tour, it’s even more interesting. The superlatively wealthy lead ridiculously glamorous lives of conspicuous consumption, and love had no baring on marriage. Catching an English title was the name of the game, so impoverished men of title came wooing young women with unbelievable doweries. Instead of wealth providing freedom, it was stifling.
Cathrine was raised to catch a title from her earliest years. Her mother never had a good word to say to her, always criticizing, never satisfied, controlling every aspect of her life.her father played least in sight, always away making money. Mom had found and cultivated a duke with no personality or appeal and was pushing the wedding. Cathy finally pretend3 to go along, but managed to get away long enough to propose marriage to a brash, broke young viscount who had crashed her parents party.
His friend helped her maneuver him into accepting, but he was resentful of the circumstances. She tried to make a go of the marriage, but he kept shutting her out.
Can this marriage be saved? Find out for yourself!
