Another win

Tamara Pierce hasn’t disappointed me yet with any of her Tortall books, though I like some more than others. Tempests and Slaughter was excellent and I hope we’ll continue to get more stories about how Arram became the man we meet in later books.

Another amazing tale

Tamora was the first author I absolutely fell in love with, and fifteen years later, I am still amazed by her books. Having read every book by her, this story was a great addition. Being able to read Arram’s back story gives so much insight into the man I already adored from her other books. It also gives a real look into Ozorne and Varice. Few other authors have the talent to make me feel such heartbreak and sympathy for the villains. She creates characters with so much dimension! I cannot wait to continue reading about Arram’s past.

NOOooooooo!!!!! *tear*

I finished it.... when it was over, I was just sitting there, looking at the glossary, going NOOOOoooooo!!!!!

Can not wait til you finish the next one. I really hope it’s soon. Your writing is masterful and so beautiful, and the characters are so easy to fall in love with, even the villains.

I can’t wait to see how Arram continues to grow up (cause those who have read the others already know how he will grow up to be). Loved how subtly you worked in some of his later strengths and weaknesses.

Keep writing, the day you stop will be the saddest day and a great loss to the readers out there. I have been reading your stories since high school *coughsnotadmittinghowlongagothatwas* and doubt I’ll ever stop reading them. I’ve never been bored rereading one of your stories, and yours is the only one where I refuse to skim even a word.

A great addition

It’s nice to finally get more of Numair’s backstory. A must read for any fan of the tortall books.

Just what I hoped for and love

After reading Tamoras books since I was 9 ( I’m just turned 29 in January) I’m still enthralled with her tortall universe. I’ve read the lioness quartet, the immortals series, the trickster duet and many more. I highly recommend the Immortal series before reading this or even after. They feature Arram as an adult. Her writing style is comforting and carries you away, wishing you could exist in her world. This book has just the right amount and f momentum to transition Arram from a child to teenager without feeling rushed. Although she writes for teens and kids I love a bit of adult romance and Tamora keeps things tasteful yet mature. It’s perfect and promising, I really hope she writes at least five books for this saga.
