Judging a Book by it's Cover:
Blue-wash filter over the couple. Seductive and sexy. Bold, bright title. Blurb is LOL funny, loved it - had to read it... I think we all love the awkward nerds, so it's fun seeing them become the hot studs by the end.
Looking Deeper:
What a fun book, it had several LOL moments for me. Mason is socially awkward, has no verbal filter, and is generally etiquette-clueless. Camilla is his new lawyer, but Mason's assistant hopes Camilla can teach him some manners and social grace.The secondary cast is just as fun as the lead characters. There are a lot of bumps in their road to destiny, literally and figuratively, but they seem to draw upon each others' strengths when needed. Their physical chemistry can only be suppressed for so long before the sparks ignite. The emotional compatibility is difficult to really find at times. The plot is well-written, fun to read, and has enough dynamics to keep things interesting. The flow was very smooth and fluid. Ms. Claire touches on Asperger's, bringing to light that though one may be diagnosed with this condition, the person is not always disabled or handicapped, it is a spectrum condition with a wide range. I thank Ms. Claire for shining light on that - especially since I am mom to an Asperger's teen who has a social and communicative delay but is an Honor Roll student (but not even SHE is that clueless and ignorant to the world around her, so he's bewildering at times to me). There really is only one main conflict that comes into play throughout the book, much to Mason's confusion and dismay. Predictability is extremely low. I love the final scenes and how they play out, but felt that the ending is a little loose. I wish there had been an Epilogue to see how he adapts to the Anderson's over time or maybe a new family scene. Overall, it was a quick and enjoyable book.
