A new favorite detective!
Bravo, Jonathan Dunsky! Adam Lapid is the kind of lead character who comes alive and makes the reader want to come back for much more. A strong supporting ‘cast,’ fascinating setting and a very (very!) twisty plot turned me into a huge fan. Can’t wait to read the next in the series!
Compelling read
This is one of the best mysteries I have read in 40 years as a mystery reader. The central character is compelling and the moral ambiguity reminds me of the best LeCarre novels and Daniel Silva novels. I encourage readers with an interest in the early years of Israel and the human aftermath of the Shoah to read this novel. I did identify the killer correctly 2/3 into the book but this did not detract from the engagement in the story.
