Tommy worked hard to establish a life outside of his father’s legacy. Son to the infamous Delucia family, he’s the heir to a throne he doesn’t want. As loyalties keep pulling him back in, he struggles to obtain a clean break. Becoming a new man is just out of arm’s reach.
Naila is a sassy, headstrong entrepreneur with businesses in the Delucia territory. A chance meeting between the two has Tommy questioning everything about his life and what his future holds.
As circumstances keep putting them in each other’s paths, the two can’t deny the building chemistry between them. As passions ignite, so does the tension surrounding the Delucia family, catching them both in the crosshairs of an all-out war.
When the dust settles, there’s only one question remaining: how deep are they willing to go?

Drama, danger, intrigue, and steam fill the pages of this book. The characters are many and they are led by two very interesting ones - a sassy, strong-willed female and a sexy, flirty, tortured male. The author brought reality to this book with the danger and violence. Include the handsome hero and his desire to keep her safe regardless of the impact on himself, you have a swoon-worthy romance. I'm hoping there is a book 2 because the author gave me two likable characters who I am hoping work things out. I need my HEA. I also want to see if Bear and Luca and Cam get their HEA. I felt like I was part of the story feeling her panic and pain near the end due to the very descriptive prose. The way the author wrote gave you a sense of what was happening but still left you wondering at the same time - maddeningly effective. I loved it.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Since I follow the author, Nicole Banks, on instagram, like many readers, we were treated to snippets during her writing process. It created a suspense around this novel, that I didn’t realize was there, until it was finally released. I downloaded it on my way to work, and found reasons to keep reading the next chapter.
Naila and Tommy were one of the best slow burn romances that I’ve read. After all their banter, it was satisfying when they got together. But I felt it was also too short lived. However when I read the epilogue, I understood why played out the way it did. Naila was a well developed, strong character, but I felt she wouldn’t have kept Steve around. He felt out of character for her. She seemed to like him well enough in the beginning of the novel, and I would have liked to see what she saw in him initially for her to keep him around as long as she did.
Tommy’s quick wit and humor helped make his character believable. He always had a retort and I liked that he kept taking chances. His dynamic with Bear was fantastic, and gave me the father/son relationship he was missing with his actual father. Bear’s budding relationship with Cam was cut so short we barely got to see it begin. I’m hoping to see so much more of them in the future.
The epilogue tossed a curveball that I didn’t see coming. I didn’t see a pregnancy coming. However, this situation puts Naila in a very peculiar position. To tell him or not to tell him, that is the question.
