Book 1: Texas Twin Abduction
Book 2: Texas Holiday Hideout
Book 3: Texas Target Standoff
Texas Target Standoff is a very suspenseful mystery by Virginia Vaughan, the most recent book in her Cowboy Lawmen series. As usual, she delivers well-developed characters and a captivating story. Psychologist Shelby specializes in counseling and helping to rehabilitate military veterans who have PTSD. Someone is stalking Shelby across several counties, and comes close to killing her. Her practice factors into the story, but I will not give away any spoilers. Suffice it to say that in the course of the investigation into the "whos" and "why" of the threats to her, she will encounter not only danger but also a possible budding romance. As she and her friend (or more?) become closer, will they both let down their guard and take the necessary risks for a fulfilling relationship? Will the criminals aiming for Shelby be caught and prosecuted, before she is seriously injured or worse? GREAT writing. I would love to see the Hallmark Movies and Mystery Channel develop movies based on some of Vaughan's books!!
He chose the darkness. You chose the light.
What I have seen is that there is evil in the world, and someone needs to be there to intervene when necessary.
Dr. Shelby Warren is a psychologist who specializes in working with military clients, particularly with those suffering with PTSD. The study of PTSD has come a long way since my studies in college, but the suffering certainly hasn’t changed. Returning into service before they are ready can bring disastrous results to themselves and those around them. Needless to say, most want to get back in uniform as quickly as possible, including our SEAL, Paul Avery. However, when threats leave the doc wondering who wants her dead, he is no longer the patient but the protector.
The action never ends in this incredibly written story. Shots fired, a bomb threat, car crashes and more will keep you trying to figure this one out right up till the end. What has she done that has put her in the crosshairs? Perhaps the biggest question for both is whether or not they will trust the Lord enough to learn to smile again.
