Fed up with being the precursor to happily ever after, she decides to interview all her exes to find out why.
Up-and-coming chef Will Harkness mixes with Alex like oil and vinegar, but forced proximity growing up means their lives are forever entwined. When Will learns Alex and her friends are going on a wild romp through Los Angeles to reconnect with her ex-boyfriends, he decides to tag along. If he can discover what her exes did wrong, he can make sure he doesn’t make the same mistake with Alex.
On this nonstop journey through the streets of LA, Alex realizes the answer to her question might be the man riding shotgun…
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Insecurity proves the greatest obstacle to love in this heartwarming rom-com from Christopher (Hot Under His Collar). Divorce attorney Alex Turner has never believed in marriage—but seeing a woman beaming with her most recent ex on Say Yes to the Dress still sparks some insecurities, especially when it leads her to notice a pattern. Her exes always seem to settle down with whoever they date next after ending their relationship with Alex. This realization launches Alex on a mission to understand what it is about her that inspires men to move on to real commitments. Alex's friend Will Harkness has loved Alex since they were teenagers, but she's the granddaughter of his beloved ex-stepmother, and he worries that if he acts on his feelings, he'll risk losing the one person who truly feels like family. Alex similarly ignores her own feelings for Will: he was the source of Alex's first romantic rejection and her pride dictates they'll never get together. But as Alex takes a series of trips down memory lane, each involving a heart-to-heart with an ex, she slowly realizes that her fear of rejection is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Alex's genuine growth makes for a rewarding tale of self-discovery. Readers will be charmed.

Loved this book!
I received a digital reading copy. Review contains my own thoughts and opinions.
First things first - this cover. 😍😍😍 I love it. It perfectly depicts Alex, the strong and commanding family law heroine in the novel. As it says, always the fling, never the ring - when we first meet her, she starts to wonder why she’s always the last girlfriend before her exes meet ‘the one.’
Will, a chef getting ready to launch a new restaurant, has been a part of her life for years, and he causes Alex to burn with lust and hatred simultaneously.
I’m in love with Alex’s wit and snark from chapter one. To be cheesy, Alex and Will are perfectly imperfect together and for each other.
While reading, I smiled, laughed, and felt not nearly cool enough to be friends with Alex or to eat at Will’s restaurant, but I loved reading along and enjoyed their story immensely.
I also adored their friends, Jane, Lana, and Charlee, and of course, Alex’s ageless grandmother, Lexi.
Not my Favorite
More of a tell not show book. Feels like a fanfiction/rushed.
Barely got through
I really wanted to like this book. The writer and book was compared to Emily Henry is an Instagram post, but that was not the case. I think the plot/troupe of the book was entertaining, but the writing and character development fell short. I also felt the editing could have been better, considering the characters Lexi and Alex were mixed up a few times.
