Will she redefine her personal values in order to break away from uncomfortable ways of thinking? Will she find the courage to conquer fears of intimidation from the band leader and others on the tour? Finally, will Margie learn to speak up for herself using her authentic voice?

Really enjoyed this book!
This is a really good book! I was hooked by both the fact that it has an interesting premise - a young woman who was just dumped by her boyfriend and through shear luck came across an ad to join a swing band all set in the 1970s - the decade I was born and love the music from that time. The other part that hooked me is most of it is set in Maryland and as a Marylander, I loved how the author captured the area from Cambridge (the Eastern Shore) to Baltimore during the 1970s too. What I wasn’t anticipating was how much this coming of age story touches on so many social issues prominent during this time AND oddly enough, what is still going on now from race issues, Roe v. Wade, equal pay for both women and men, etc. and they are woven in so well which really makes the story feel like a journey anyone could be taking no matter the decade. It’s great for those who love messy relationships albeit band mates - think Daisy Jones and The Six, messy parental relationships, and found families. Oh and the ending is sooo good and satisfying! I highly recommend it!
