Charming book for my traditional frame of mind.
Was a very good book.. But, I felt that meaningless pages were spent on describing every aspect of everything going on around this boarding house and the war hero who resides inside.
The refreshing part for me was an introduction to a time period where women were strong but submissive to their husbands .
Some people may not like the spankings but that isn’t what this book was about . It’s about a strong respectable man courting a beautiful, sassy, strong ,independent woman who had to be convinced at times it’s ok to trust him , trust love and to trust friendships from all walks of life.
The book was a very meaningful read but got bogged down in details at times . I would recommend this book as it teaches to eradicate prejudice and fear during a very trying time period in our countries history. Let this book take you on a journey after world war 2 ....You’ll learn a lot about the time period and to be patient as you read.
