Kivi Mennos—a young elven soldier—is in over her head after lying to get into her new post on the remote island of Liber, far from her old life in the Vestarii capital.

Kivi's crimes risk her expulsion from Liber's magical unit just as a battle for existence ensues on the shores of her new home. An army of Pax Manovans arrive seeking an ancient, supernatural secret hidden on the island. Her personal vendetta to prove herself worthy of being there takes a distant second as she and her friends are vastly outnumbered.

"Lion of the West" is what the world calls Vestarii, but can Kivi and her comrades live up to the name? Or will the Pax Manovans crush the young women and seize what they came for?
