It's Okay

Upon receipt of this e-book, I was excited to explore it and learn from it. It is an okay read and all-in-all worth it for a woman just starting out on their journey with regard to the chakras.

My issues with this book began in the beginning. There are grammatical errors sprinkled throughout. These will probably be unnoticed by the average reader and will not detract from the enjoyment thereof. As a writer and editor, I noticed.

It seems Ms. Revel wrote her book primarily for younger women who are raising families and working outside the home. This is most noticeable in the quiz she provides early on. I took the quiz honestly and found many of the questions were not applicable to me. Since there was no way to indicate this, I scored myself a ‘1’. When I began adding everything up and reading the outcome, I was shocked. I know my chakras are open and balanced, yet this quiz, besides the individual paragraphical summaries being condescending and a bit harsh, showed my chakras being more closed off and unbalanced. I returned to the quiz and each of the questions I scored myself a low mark on due to it being inapplicable I gave myself a ‘5’. This put my scores where they should be.

An example, besides the questions regarding work and family, which do not apply to me, I do not need to give nicknames to my body parts to show that I have respect for them. Also, I refuse to give credence to being so disrespectful to myself, management and other patrons at a movie theater as to throw objects up and down the aisle. Not engaging in this type of disrespectful behavior does not make me less of a person. In fact, I think less of people who do take pleasure in being so disrespectful to others.

After the quiz debacle, I was tempted to cease reading. However, I continued. Some of the information provided is useful especially the creative activities.

If you are a younger woman just beginning to learn about the chakras, I highly recommend this book. Enjoy it to the fullest.
