Publisher Description
This is an A to Z book, but not in the traditional sense. In this book, ‘The A to ZZZ of falling asleep’, the reader will not learn how to combat insomnia, or develop techniques in diet and exercise, or midnight tricks, to ease them into dreamland. Actually, it is a book of short stories designed solely so that a reader could read a small story from beginning to end in one session before falling asleep, or before being bored to sleep. Thereafter, the variable types of stories would provide fuel for dreaming, pleasant dreaming, hopefully. Being an avid reader of books to fall asleep by, I read mostly those books with short chapters that allow some unwinding, settling down, and then sleep in a brief time. Long chapters were a deterrent to finishing a book because I knew I would be asleep before the chapter’s end, and it became a grind to beat sleep and finish a chapter. And exciting books, even if constructed of short chapters, were essentially sequential, and made one want to read on, fuelling insomnia. Short-story books seemed the best answer. So I wrote this book for those like myself, who could skip randomly from chapter to chapter, and choose the longer or the shorter, or the simple or more complex of the stories for bedtime reading.
