Marcus Grool, everyman ordinaire, has lost his job.



Now he’s about to lose his relationship, too - unless he agrees to a course in counseling. Reluctant but desperate, Marcus makes the call. When he meets unhinged old quack Dr Edmond Ummond, however, it seems Fate’s cruel blows have scored a hat-trick.


Dr Ummond is rude, acerbic and completely ignorant of dental hygiene. Worst, he’s fiendishly expensive. All the same, he cuts Marcus a deal - and if he wants to keep his girlfriend, the younger man can’t refuse. Besides, all Marcus has to do is listen to a crazy story about a Lord who leaves his castle. How hard can it be? What he will soon realize is that any who hears the tale of the Absent Lord is never again the same.
