Publisher Description

The Maccabees were a rebel army which seized control of Judea and ruled from 164 – 63 B.C.  The Maccabeean rule started after they revolted against the Seleucid Empire, which ordered them to become Hellenic pagans.

Hanukkah celebrates the re-dedication of the Temple in Jerusalem after the Maccabees gained control of the city.

The Age of the Maccabees covers the period beginning before the Maccabee’s rule, until its end.  A table of contents is included for easier navigation.
