In Paris, Clare Dubeque receives a strange offer from a mysterious Italian princess. The princess wants her great-granddaughter Linette kidnapped, to free her from a house of death, and brought home to Milan to claim her inheritance. The offer involves a large amount of money for Clare—and an even larger amount of danger. The penniless Clare has no choice but to set out on a journey of terror—that may just lead her to love.
