Lenora

He hated me.
I loved him.
I had feelings for Beckham for so long it was a part of me now. But because his father married my mother, I knew there was no chance of us ever being together. We couldn't cross that line. I wouldn't for fear of ruining our relationship.

But then my mother betrayed his father, destroying our family and ripping Beckham from me.
Hurtful things were said, things that broke my heart.
I never thought I'd see him again. It was an unmeasurable pain.

And six months later, I found myself having to turn to him, the man I loved.... the man who hated me.
He agreed to let me stay with him until I was on my feet again. But what arrangement did he have in mind? What did he want as payment?

Beckham

She thought I hated her.

She couldn't be further from the truth.

I was so in love with her that no one else mattered. But I screwed that up in one moment of pain, in one second of hurt.
It wasn't even her fault, but I'd taken it out on Lenora. And I regretted it every day since. I wanted to call her so many times. I'd driven by her house like a stalker, wanting to talk to her, to beg for forgiveness.

But now was my time to make things right.
Now was my chance to prove to her I'd do whatever it took to have her forgive me... to have her love me too.

So-So, Had So Much Potential

The premise was great. The execution seriously needed some work. It needs an editor badly. It keeps switching between present and past tense, as well as typos galore, that just pull the reader out of the story. This also sounds like this was written by someone who has never actually had sex before. Plus the whole “I saved myself for you” and “I don’t want to give my innocence to anyone but you” is so steeped in purity culture and is beyond believable. I don’t particularly believe a grown woman who has graduated law school and worked as a lawyer is a virgin and still “saving herself for her one true love,” especially when she expects to never be with him. I absolutely do not believe a man of similar age has somehow never had sex either, because he’s saving himself for his one true love who he also doesn’t believe he will ever actually be with. That part pretty much ruined the realism of the story right there, but then they’re both losing their virginity (already a made up concept with no medical definition) and continuously referring to it as “give their innocence” (which doesn’t even make sense), but they are going to have a marathon session in which she comes twice. Uuuuuum, seriously? This thing should almost be labelled fantasy on that point alone.

This story, the idea itself, had such great potential, but the way it was written really didn’t work at all. I was interested in some of the other books in the series based on their descriptions, but I will not be reading them after reading this nonsense.
