The Art of Appreciation

Welcome to the Artworld Community Arts Magazine, The Art of Appreciation.  The magazine features articles from the editor, community members, artists and art-lovers. The magazine is published both on Facebook and (beautifully presented) within the community’s Artworld app.


Submissions are invited. Articles should be succinct, well illustrated, and of a literary standard. 


The tone of the magazine is informative and appreciative: it aims to spread the "good news" of the quality and diversity of contemporary art. It also aims to help emerging and community artists reach an audience and, perhaps, a market for their work. Critical articles are acceptable, indeed they are encouraged as a vehicle for stimulating debate. They should be prepared to justify themselves evidentially, however, and should never be vitriolic, or engage in ad hominem arguments, or personal invective.


Artworld is a "broad church": opinions and insights are welcome, whatever the cultural background, experience or knowledge of the author, only providing that the articles themselves are both well written and interesting. The editor encourages participation, particularly by artists and especially regarding their own work or the work of their peers.


Work for publication should be formatted as plain text, RTF, Open Office, MS Word, or Apple Pages) and submitted to the editor, Keith McFarlane, at the following address: editor@negativeentropy.net. Accepted articles will be published within the Artworld app, and will feature (in acceptance order) on the Artworld timeline on Facebook. They will also be available in Acrobat / PDF form, and may be shared from within the Artworld app via email, Twitter or Facebook itself.
