In search of identity after many tumultuous years of maneuvering discriminatory practices in Caucasian enriched Corporate America, finding herself attending college, full-time, after complete intellectual challenges. Shirley suddenly switched from Business Administration to Art, enrolling in Social Psychology, Cultural Anthropology, Writing and yes, Art classes. Brainwashed in saluting and Pledging Allegiance to the Flag, singing God Bless America, since childhood was not as inviting in the real world. Creating children's books for African American children, no longer her ambition, fell by the wayside, instead suddenly transformed into producing, paper sculptured African Masks. Take a walk on the wild side and visit many awe-inspirational creative gifts and artistry present not only in Shirley's, but in all our lives.
