Omg this book! Blew me away!
Emotional and unique story!
The Assistant by Marni Mann blew me away. It was unexpected and all-consuming and not what I was expecting at all. The blurb talks about a couple and their family, but this story is so much more and most likely the last thing you can think off. This is truly one time you really should avoid all spoilers and just take the journey. A story of before and afters that will draw you right in and never let you go. I thought about it for days after I was done.
The story is told in multiple point of views and begins with Jesse and Emery Black. When their lives suddenly gets busier, Jesse suggests an assistant, enter Charlotte Scott. From the first words to the very last, my heart was shattered in so many ways. Marni Mann gave us a unique and emotional story with a twist you do not see coming that will leave you reeling!
4.5-stars. Happy reading!
So freaking good!
I have honestly enjoyed every book I’ve ever read by Marni Mann. But The Assistant may be the best one yet. This book is SO good! It made me feel so many emotions. Jesse is the heroine. She is a strong, independent, and loving woman, wife and mother. I loved her strength and devotion. She and her husband, Emery, are still very much I love after 24 years together. The have two kids that they both love and cherish. Emery is a successful architect that does very well for himself and his family and is very much i love with his wife. This family seems to have it all. But Jesse changes after losing her father to a horrible illness. I can’t say much more because everyone should go into this story blind. It’s very well written and worth every minute it takes to read. I’m definitely recommending it to all of my reading buddies.
