St. Ignatius is one of the most prominent figures in the history of the Catholic Church. He was not only inspired by The Vita Christi, but improved on its teachings and meditations as well. He wrote his own book of guided meditation, simply named Spiritual Exercises, still employed today from within and beyond the Catholic faith. He was canonized by Pope Gregory XV in 1622, and is known as the Patron Saint of Catholic Soldiers.
