Spanish Knight Ignatius of Loyola is gravely wounded in the Battle of Pamplona in 1521 and is bed-ridden for many months. While regaining his strength, Ignatius immerses himself in the pages of The Vita Christi and resolves to abandon his armor and dedicate his life to Christ’s work. What follows is a life of wandering and being found by God, as Ignatius embarks on a journey that crosses paths with the Spanish Inquisition, the Illuminati, and many other adventures. His autobiography ends with his arrival in Rome, where he and his companions found the Society of Jesus, which is still working miracles around the world today.
St. Ignatius is one of the most prominent figures in the history of the Catholic Church. He was not only inspired by The Vita Christi, but improved on its teachings and meditations as well. He wrote his own book of guided meditation, simply named Spiritual Exercises, still employed today from within and beyond the Catholic faith. He was canonized by Pope Gregory XV in 1622, and is known as the Patron Saint of Catholic Soldiers.
