With her enemies at her heels and the terrifying truth looming before her, Jahrra will accompany Jaax as they seek refuge in the faraway city of Lidien, a place of enlightenment protected by ancient magic. No longer the hidden child of an ancient prophecy, Jahrra will take the first steps in her role as the savior of Ethoes - a responsibility she neither desires nor readily accepts - while Jaax holds court with those he considers allies in the resistance against the Tyrant King.

But when the City of Light proves to be as vulnerable to evil as Oescienne, Jahrra and her dragon guardian discover their safety to be at risk once again. This time, however, the danger may not be hiding in the shadows beyond the enchanted boundaries of Lidien, but within the very walls meant to keep them safe, festering in the hearts of those they have grown to trust above all others.
