Not worth 99 cents.
It might be considered a classic but it is not worth any praise. It is a mock feminist novel. The characters are one dimensional, the main character is selfish and her whole dialogue is oh, woe is me, the institute of marriage is disgusting!
Not only did she put herself in her "oppressive marriage" she did it only to spite her father and sister.
The story is written so poorly on top of it. We are constantly being told the lead character is oppressed and that she is looked at like property. Really? You can't write that tastefully, you have to literally tell us?
On top of it, it has the worst ending I've ever read. I go as far to even say that it's a cop out.
Don't waste your time reading this book, I beg you.
