The Bar

After yet another relationship break-up, the Author travels from his home in Leeds to stay with a friend in the capital. Once there, he visits a bar in Central London and, with the World Cup due to start the next day, decides to chronicle the tournament in a journal format from inside the same bar on a daily basis. What transpires is not just a record of the South African World Cup, but the people and events that surround it from both inside and outside the premises over the whole five week period.
This autobiographical first-person narrative is funny, reflective, thought-provoking and down to earth. The Author is not an author but a printer, and the rawness of the text is largely unedited to maintain both its integrity and conversational style.
