Summer is the time for BBQ, burgers, and… murder

Christie Watson, private investigator par excellence, has had an interesting start to her summer. A sudden uptick in missing cat cases has Christie flitting from home to home, searching for felines in varying states of grumpiness. With her private investigation business on the rocks, all she needs is one good case.

When the new editor of the paper, The Creeker Gazette, is murdered, Christie's asked by local police not to get involved. And she doesn't plan on it.

Until the town's "Gossip Queen" and enemy number one comes knocking. As the prime suspect in the case, Mona Jonah has a lot to lose, and a lot of money to offer if Christie can figure out who committed the murder.

Christie's got to choose: annoy the local detectives, her boyfriend included, or keep her business afloat. Find out whodunit in the third installment in the Sleepy Creek Cozy Mystery series! Grab your copy today.

A Welcome Dash of Tension

The Burger Bar Mystery books were my first introduction to Rosie A. Point. It was fun to revisit Sleepy Creek and the fun characters from that series. Just like any of Rosie's books, you can easily jump in here and enjoy the story.

Aggy, Christie's cousin, is a new character for this series. It took me a bit to get used to her and their dynamic together. Christie doesn't seem to care for her much at first and they certainly couldn't be more different. But by the end, their relationship was a bit more solidified and I found that I was enjoying the addition of Aggy.

I think Rosie took a bit of a risk with this story by allowing Christie to be alienated from her friends. Most of the time in her books, this kind of tension is minimal. I thought it was a really nice touch, however, and there is a good payoff at the end.

The mystery elements are handled well here and there is just enough to keep readers guessing and flipping through to the end. Overall, I enjoyed the familiar cozy feel of a Rosie A. Point novel, with a welcome dash of tension and angst. I feel her writing is only getting better with each new book and I am looking forward to more from her.

I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
