The Bear. 
 An underground bar. NED's place. NED — tough as iron. 
 Saturday nights, the Oil Heads own the stage. JP on guitar. One of my close friends. A strange soul, but unbreakable. 
 Thursdays are for Stoner Rock. PI, SAM, NED, JP and the rest… For years, we lived louder than the world around us. 

My story began on Gustav Street, in a rotten flat above Club 46. 
 You know the place — the strip club. 
 Just when I thought life couldn't sink any lower, I crossed into LIMBO. 
 I spoke with the dead. Walked through fire. Drank. Fell in love. Got wasted. Fell apart. 
 I devoured thousands of books in a single day. 
 I met the great writers. I faced the FERRYMAN. 

I'm LEVO. 
 My surname means nothing. 
 I never cared for surnames. 
 And in my phone book, I write my friends' names only in ALL CAPS.
