1885 Tucson, Priscilla is fortunate to have a level of independence not afforded to many women of the times. A caring woman, she helps others as much as she can. Cord is Deputy Federal Marshal. The badge and gun aren't all he once wanted in life, but it's what he does. His life is turned upside down when he receives word that his estranged nine-year-old daughter is coming on the train. How can he manage that given a life where he sleeps in the back of the jail and lives by the gun?

Sparing forces, a mothering sense, growing attraction, jealous suitors, greedy small town politics and harsh realities make this a great read far beyond a simple Christmas novella.

In the end it's pure love and the forces of nature that shake up plans to make this novel a pleasure from end to end.
