Publisher Description

Once upon a time, in a parallel universe, there existed the continent of Triton…

The land was filled with beauty, but it was also splintered by war.

Out of the chaos grew a conspiracy to reawaken the Beast, a fearsome creature who wrought only tragedy and devastation. The only way to stop him is to fulfill an ancient prophecy: Triton’s four strongest warriors must wed its four most powerful witches, binding all nations together and finally bringing peace to the land.

This is the beginning of the story of their unions: the quiet maiden Silence and the savage king Mars. The cold warrior Cassius and the fiery witch Elena. The steadfast soldier True and the banished beauty Farah. And the pirate king Aramus and his mysterious queen Ha-Lah.

Their unions will not be easy, but each couple must succeed…

The fate of their world is at stake.

MommyMichele ,

This is such a great series.

If you want magic and the land that’s varied and fun, plus sexy times. This is for you. Multi-POV.

Good story, bad writing

The first book sets up nicely, but the writing throughout the series is confusing and rambling quite often. The relationships of the four couples are also very similar with each man being extremely domaneering under the guise of being “protective.” The story was good but the writing and alpha male stereotype take away from it.

Loved the story. Hated the writing.

I first discovered this story via the audiobook version and I loved it. So much so that I decided to revisit it by reading the print version.

I wish I hadn't.

First, the narrators of the audiobook (there were several) were incredible! I didn’t realize how talented they were until I attempted to read, instead of listen to, the book. The narrators brought the story to life, pulled me in, and, most importantly, made it coherent. I loved this story so much I binge-listened to all four books in the series.

Second, the writing is bad. So bad it makes it almost impossible to read. Bad grammar. Bad syntax. Bad punctuation. I continually found myself pulled out of the story to reread what I’d just read because the writing was so bad and hard to follow. At best, it doesn’t flow and I kept stumbling over it. At worst, it was difficult to understand. Either way, I was continually pulled out of the story, which made it hard to focus and hard to want to keep reading.

I wish the author would hire a professional editor to revise the book and re-release it because I would give it another go since, as I’ve already mentioned, the story itself is really good. It’s just the writing, the mechanics of it, that is very, very hard to get past.

A good story is important…but it will only get you so far. If the way the story is told (for instance, how it’s written) is bad, well…it doesn’t matter how good the story is if it can’t be understand and enjoyed.

If this story seems like something you’d enjoy, I HIGHLY recommend checking out the audiobook version instead of the print.
