Publisher Description
This book is about the early history of nuclear science experiments that were developed at the Space Sciences Laboratory, University California at Berkeley, California and flown on NASA and ESTEC satellites. The book covers a period of some 17 years of history and advances in the technology.
Some of these experiments supported the first USA manned moon landing in addition to providing scientific data.
Included is a discussion of the first University of California Satellite to orbit the Moon that was launched from an Apollo Space Shuttle. That satellite provided a close study of the moon environment prior to the first moon landing.
The book includes over 60 pictures and illustrations.
