Publisher Description

Synopsis of The Black Chip An exciting techno-thriller set in Dallas, Texas at the turn of the 21st century. Two Dallas physicians, Stuart Young and Mitch Mitchell, are mystified by the deaths of three of their perfectly healthy patients. They team up with Dr. G.P. Hawkins, Deputy Medical Examiner of Dallas County to try to solve the mystery. The project takes a dark turn when Dr. Young’s fiancée is targeted for death. What they unearth is a sinister plot to sell healthy human organs on the black market, a plot that involves a prominent heart transplant surgeon, the Governor of Illinois and a renowned aerospace satellite engineer. They find themselves in a terrifying sprint to save Dr. Young’s fiancée and stop a black market operation, a chase filled with danger and unexpected twists and turns. Author Information The author's fascination with aerospace began on October 4, 1957 when he was a sophomore in college. SPUTNIK I, orbited by Russia, circled overhead and petrified the nation only five hundred miles up. Eight months later, Texas Instruments hired Jack Kilby to work on an electrical circuit using only one material and no wires, making the circuits infinitely smaller. Within a few weeks, Kilby had a working model of a microchip. America's moon landing program could not have been accomplished without it. In 1961 Chuck began work in Seattle on Strategic Air Command’s Minuteman Missile program. In 1963, he began work on the Saturn V rocket. In 1964 NASA hired Chuck to work on the Apollo design. He worked in Mission Control covering every mission. By chance, he was present on April 13, 1970 when the Apollo 13 explosion rocked NASA’s world. Chuck heard, in real time, “Houston, we have a problem.” Chuck, and all personnel involved in the Apollo 13 rescue received a team Presidential Medal of Freedom award. Jack Kilby agreed to the author's request to review the manuscript and make comments. Kilby suggested the title, "The Black Chip."
