Publisher Description
There were six of them.
One was in love, and doubted he could ever be loved in return. One was struggling with her career, plagued by vivid, gruesome nightmares like none she'd ever experienced. One chose to hide his insecurities behind an alpha-male exterior, but wrestled with his own demons on a daily basis. One believed her life was over when her boyfriend left her sobbing on the street, and has never forgotten his betrayal. One is dry-humored, quiet, desperate for a change but too afraid to make it. And one is eternally devoted to a god she met as a child… a god who once saved her from a force so terrifying, so powerful, that it reaches across entire continents to devour its helpless prey.
There were six of them, at first.
None of them would ever be the same.
Customer Reviews
Muddled story line, heavy handed similes
I am so disappointed in this book. It promised to be terrifying, and ended up falling flat. The storyline has some plot holes that could have been overlooked had the story been better. Instead, there was no direction to the storyline. Several storylines were introduced and then abandoned. The pov was also crazy confusing. It seems like it's being told from the point of view of one of the characters, but somehow includes information that the character never would have witnessed. There is no closure or answers provided on basically everything and the monster/bad men, which had the promise to be terrifying, ended up fizzling out since there seemed to be no real story or information divulging who or what they were. Finally, the writing was extremely heavy handed in description, with similes In almost every sentence--many that didn't even make sense-- making it wordy without any true description of what was actually taking place.
