Lisa Calloway is broke, living in a drafty studio above the city, and running out of options. When she sees an ad for a university research study that pays $500 for one day's work, she doesn't ask too many questions. She needs the rent money. She makes the call.

The scientists at Calder Polytechnic are polite and professional. The paperwork is legitimate. The lab looks exactly like a lab should. But when they finally tell her what the study involves, Lisa realizes she's agreed to something she can't quite wrap her head around.

There's a plant. A red, pulsing, tentacled organism developed under a government contract. It feeds on human sexual secretions. And for the next few hours, it's going to make her come until she can't think straight.

Lisa tells herself it's just one session. Just one afternoon of letting something inhuman touch her, open her, take her apart with a patience and precision no person ever could. The money's good. The plant is safe. She can handle it.

But after the tendrils withdraw and the scientists hand her an envelope of cash, Lisa walks out of that basement room knowing something fundamental has changed. She's seen what her body is capable of. Felt what it's like to be wanted by something that doesn't judge, doesn't perform, doesn't stop until she's completely empty.

And now she can't stop thinking about it.
