Publisher Description

Coretta Scott King Honor winner Brenda Woods’ moving, uplifting story of a girl finally meeting the African American side of her family explores racism and how it feels to be biracial, and celebrates families of all kinds.

Violet is a smart, funny, brown-eyed, brown-haired girl in a family of blonds. Her mom is white, and her dad, who died before she was born, was black. She attends a mostly white school where she sometimes feels like a brown leaf on a pile of snow. She’s tired of people asking if she’s adopted. Now that Violet’s eleven, she decides it’s time to learn about her African American heritage. And despite getting off to a rocky start trying to reclaim her dad’s side of the family, she can feel her confidence growing as the puzzle pieces of her life finally start coming together. Readers will cheer for Violet, sharing her joy as she discovers her roots.

Amazing

I got this book from my school library at the time when we had to line up. So I just chose a random book and it happens to be this on of course The Blossoming Universe of Violet Diamond!💍🌸🌟💎I thought I wouldn't like this book considering I didn't know what it was about at the time but, than I read the inside cover (yes it was hardcover) and found that I probably wouldn't like it! But once I started READING it, I found that I actually liked it!💎💐👍🏻😀 So sad but yet heartfelt to! It's also got suspense which is really good to if I don't say so myself! I would recommend this to anyone so go and read this book now! Please!💎🌸🌟💍💐

Amazing!

“The Blossoming Universe of Violet Diamond” has to be one of the best books I’ve ever had the honor of reading. It offers incredible insight into culture, dives into the wonderful world of art, and raises the voice of an amazing biracial child, Violet Diamond. Brenda Woods, the author of this book, has clearly been gifted in relating with others’ pain and heartache and the process of building a so-desired relationship with someone. God has definitely blessed her hands. The characters and scenes displayed throughout this novel were very realistic, which obviously helps in keeping you hooked.
Overall, I absolutely loved this book, and I want to thank you, Brenda, for obeying God’s calling and writing this book. I have full confidence that this book will continue to reach the lives of young readers of all different races across the nations.
