Publisher Description

Bestselling author Marty Wingate “plants clever clues with a dash of romantic spice,” raves Mary Daheim. Now Wingate’s inimitable gardening heroine, Pru Parke, is importing a precious bloom from Texas—and she won’t let a vicious murder stop her.

Pru’s life in England is coming full circle. A Texas transplant, she’s married to the love of her life, thriving in the plum gardening position she shares with her long-lost brother, and prepping a Chelsea Flower Show exhibit featuring the beloved bluebonnets of the Texas hill country. Technically, Twyla Woodford, the president of a gardening club in the Lone Star State, is in charge of the London event, but Pru seems to be the one getting her hands dirty. When they finally do meet, Pru senses a kindred spirit—until Twyla turns up dead.

Although Twyla’s body was half buried under a wall in their display, Pru remains determined to mount a spectacular show. Twyla would have insisted. So Pru recruits her husband, former Detective Chief Inspector Christopher Pearse, to go undercover and do a bit of unofficial digging into Twyla’s final hours. If Pru has anything to say about it, this killer is going to learn the hard way not to mess with Texas.

The Bluebonnet Betrayal

The story was excellent. I really enjoyed it but there was one small problem. At the end of several pages the last line was carried over and repeated on the next page. Sometimes there were a few words missing at the beginning of a page. I don't feel as though I missed very much, I was just a little confused in a couple of places.
Marty Wingate is a wonderful author and I look forward to reading more of her books.

Best Yet!

I started pretty far into this series reading these books. This book is even more fun than the last, maybe because I'm getting to know Pru better. This is the second book in this series I have read.

London has a huge flower show that I didn't know about. It's called the Chelsea Flower Show. A friend from Texas, her hometown, asked for her help with the flower show. A big name flower association back in Texas has been granted their own exhibit at the Chelsea show. It's slow going getting it built, so the woman who is the head of The Austin Rock Garden Society, Twyla, has to go to England to the Chelsea Show to get things moved along.

She and Pru meet and hit it right off, only, well, Twyla is DEAD the next morning. Someone must have thought she was worthy of being part of the rock wall, or hoped to hide her better than they did. That is just sad and horrible.

The Chief Inspector wants Pru to steer clear of this mess, so she isn't drug in deeper than she is, but that is going to be hard to do with Christopher putting himself in danger undercover snooping and sleuthing. Since when does Pru stay out of danger? Reminiscent of another murder series I liked, this isn't going to be something Pru just walks off from.

This book is bursting with blooms, and all kinds of happenings. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more! My copy came from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review and nothing more.
