The Book of Bebb

I've never read a book quite like this before, and comparisons would be difficult for such a singular work. What fascinated me was the seamless way Buechner wove a tale and created his characters with such ease. A master of description, his scenes came alive and kept me longing for more. I am amazed that I could come to care so much for the hero who was so unheroic. But I suppose his many flaws so painstakingly made, created a sort of sympathy for the foibles of all humanity. That we all need grace, is certainly made clear, and the need to change our unwillingness to love, before it's too late, and bitterness destroys hope.
