The Book of Mormon

The Book of Mormon, the text upon which the Mormon faith is based, was said to have been revealed to founder Joseph Smith by the angel Moroni over a period of several years. The book was translated by Smith from a series of golden plates he found buried in a hillside. Smith claimed that the golden plates were found alongside a pair of spectacle-like glasses, through which he was able to translate the text and thus compile the famous text.
