Not really advice - more of a complaint

It's a book about how much this guy hated working in real estate, and how you could avoid working with agents. While he is correct, there are many, many sleazy and clueless agents out there, there are many many more good people doing a job they like and doing it well. FSBO usually don't even sell and end up with an agency. The few that do sell, typically sell for less. If you have the time and effort to make selling your house a full time job, you can do it. If not, hire a full time agent with good word of mouth recommendations. My theory is most of the bad rep in the business is from fly-by-night part-timers. These people work full time at a job, but dabble in real estate as a hobby, fail miserably, and make the rest look bad. And by the way- NOBODY makes 7%. The average 6% commission is split 4 ways. So your agent makes 1.5% of the transaction- that's gross, before taxes, expense, etc,. So stop calling it easy money!

Sour grapes of a failure

The introduction says it all. This book is for your "personal enjoyment only". The author, The For Sale by Owner Guy" is mad because Agents made more for their personal an professional liability in putting together transactions then this uneducated handyman made climbing through attics as a home inspector. He tried to be an agent for two yard but failed in the wake of those that are more successful, so he blames his failures on everyone else. The book was a free download, but a total waste of time to read. Garbage. You won't learn anything in this waste of time. Don't bother.
