The Brethren

The Brethren...a tale of epic romance and stirring self-sacrifice. The novel follows the journey of two young Frankish knights and their cousin Rosamund, whom both brothers love ardently. As the plot begins to unfold, she is carried away against her will by the Muslims to the court of Saladin, her uncle. The brethren strive to save her and so ensues a ride full of adventure, suspense, self-sacrifice, and love. Haggard's text is sometimes hard to plough through when dialogue slackens, but the heart of the story is gold.
