Publisher Description
A woman running from a dark past stumbles upon a tangled nest of seductions and secrets in this psychological thriller of obsession and betrayal.
Catherine, no last name, doesn’t bury the dead. She rescues the living—from intolerable, abusive, dangerous lives. Her darknet-based witness protection program, the Burial Society, is the last hope for people who desperately need to disappear. Catherine takes care of them and provides new identities. She is effective and efficient—until she discovers that her slipup may have compromised a client, maybe even killed her. Powerless to help without exposing her shadowy profession, Catherine makes a drastic move.
With her covert service relocated to Paris, Catherine’s done her best to move on. But when a dark part of her past suddenly appears in the City of Light, she refuses to run—and her life takes a harrowing turn.
Using all the tricks of her unusual trade, Catherine weaves her way through a dangerous landscape of treachery, infidelity, paranoia, and secrets that bind as deeply as blood. But the evil of the enemy she’s pursuing runs deeper still—to the bone. And even Catherine’s most cunning skills may not be enough to save herself.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In this underwhelming psychological thriller from Sadowsky (Just Fall), 18-year-old Natalie Burrows finds her father, Brian, slain in the family's Paris apartment. The police assume that a robber did the deed, but Natalie and her 21-year-old brother, Jake, remain unconvinced and launch their own investigations. Meanwhile, Brian's murder catches the attention of a mysterious figure identified only as Catherine, who helps troubled women vanish and start over. Three years earlier, Brian's adulterous wife, Mallory, began receiving anonymous threats. Mallory was already considering leaving Brian for her lover, so she reached out to Catherine for assistance. Before they could meet, Mallory went missing and is now presumed dead. Mallory's disappearance still haunts Catherine particularly now that Mallory's children are orphans so, to ease her guilt and satisfy her curiosity, Catherine assumes an alias and endeavors to determine whether both spouses were killed by the same person. Ill-defined stakes and a dearth of action sap tension, while clich d characters with a penchant for melodrama rob the story of emotional heft.

The Burial Society Review
Nina Sadowsky’s vividly descriptive writing will have you lurking around the corners of dark and seedy Parisian streets. Her intense characters keep the pages turning late into the night. A true “who done it” until the end... but is it really the end of the story? At first I was a bit confused as all the characters were introduced. I feel like a little more backstory might have grabbed me better in the beginning but Nina Sadowsky tells her tale present to past and it only took a couple chapters to feel engaged and the fast paced continual switch of plot kept me wanting to turn page after page! Thank you Nina Sadowsky for allowing me to be part of the launch team for this amazingly gripping novel! #theburialsociety #ninasadosky Nina Sadowsky
