The California Condor, a Story of Hope

After being at the brink of extinction, California condors are flying again in America’s southwestern skies. One of the rarest birds in the world, they are the largest land bird in North America with a wingspan up to 9 1/2 feet.


The tireless effort of many organizations and hundreds of volunteers has saved these birds from extinction and brought their number from 22 birds in 1982 to more than 440 today.


This ebook is based on the educational section of “Mysteries of the Grand Canyon”: it provides information about the life and habits of condors in the wild as well as details of the recovery program.
