Clancy’s Best
Hunt for Red October gets all the attention, and of course several other of Clancy’s books have become movies, TV shows, and video games. But, after re-reading Cardinal once again, I think this is Clancy’s best. The characters are far more three-dimensional than in Red October, the themes are more nuanced, and all the far-flung, competing plots come together brilliantly.
Slow Start, but…
Slow starter was getting worried, but ended in a nice volley of quick engaging pages.
Best Clancy Novel
the story has all the Jack Ryan characters in their prime, but the most intriguing aspect of the book is the Soviet main character, the setting is the cold war period of the 80s, breathtaking excitement, intrigue, plot twists and turns, and a remarkable insight on warriors, spies, bureaucrats, ideologies, and love.
