Old School Spy Novel
This was a pretty solid follow up to Patriot Games. We continue to see Jack Ryan’s ascension through the CIA. Unlike Patriot Games and Hunt for Red October we don’t necessarily see his life in peril as much but what I really enjoyed about this book was the old school spy craft of getting information out of enemy territory and into the American hands. This IMO is missing in today’s spy books with everything being done via cell phones or computer hacking (I wish the Jack Ryan show had been a period pace similar to the Americans). I do think the pacing was a bit slower than the previous books but there’s some interesting technological advances as well as some considerations as to who the Americans allied themselves with in order to damage one opponent only to prop up another.

Not just a great one from Tom Clancy but one of the great books of the era!
Years late, but finally got around to a brilliant book!
This continues the story of Jack Ryan nicely! Even though it does not revolve around him, it creates a beautiful chance to develop new characters that we all know and love in the newer books!
