Very insightful

I read this book in college for my African-American literature class. It documented something I've seen & experienced on a personal level (I was born & raised in Louisiana, a place where the color complex is intertwined with its history IMO). It explains some social norms that exist & doesn't try to explain why you be for & against it. Recommend it.
