The Courage of a Lifetime

This is the story of Silvia, a woman of eighty-eight years’ old living with a nurse taking care of her. She has two

children that are all her life and from whom she feels deeply beloved.

The woman’s health is fragile and she has a sudden illness seeming to preannounce the end.

Silvia, aware of living the last instants of her life and fearing the moment of the separation, allows herself to go back

with memories. During that only day, she tells the secrets of the past to herself and to her own children.

In an alternation of emotions, both wonderful and dramatic, Silvia accompanies us among the salient facts of her life: the

rape, the tried shame, the pain, her first love, the war, the loss, her child's birth, the meeting with the man that will

become her husband, her daughter’s birth, the betrayal and the last years of her older age.

The raising memories will give her the possibility to tell the hidden truth to her children and to make her certain to

have fully lived her existence. Silvia succeeds so to find the necessary inner peace to face the uncertainty of death,

putting back in her children’s hands a secret...
