Sara Herne has been raised to believe in past lives, her Raven Man Joseph and the thin fabric that separates her present existence and those past lives that weave in and out of her consciousness; but four years earlier, rape and her mother’s betrayal led Sara to shut them off and out of her teaching career. Hearing Joseph’s voice, feeling the old ache for his love, she decides to re-embrace that spiritual path and her past. What she does not know, however, is that Joseph, too, has had past lives and, in all of them, he loves her, has always followed her in death to the next life and even now wreaks vengeance on those who harm her.
